What Should I Wear?

The uniform for Rotary-WEG volunteers is simple and classic, Khakis and closed-toed shoes, and a simple shirt. The concessionaire has set the standard with Central Kentucky in mind. We all have khaki pants, ladies and gentlemen, and we can all find some nice closed-toed shoes to wear with them. Running or Tennis shoes are fine, if they look presentable. You need comfortable shoes to wear for a shift. We will be walking about handing out food, stocking vending counter trays, operating cash registers, and doing some light food preparation.

The other question I have been asked is "What sort of shirt should I wear?" Well, comfortable is your first thought. It could be warm out there. The recommendation from the vendor is a white or neutral colored outerwear T-shirt, without any writing, advertising, or other distracting figures on it. Volunteers will have an apron or serving jacket over the shirt, so it won't be that exposed. We just want it to be in good taste. Of course, you can wear a white or neutral shirt or blouse, if you wish. Again, make it in good taste. This is more than a high school basket ball concession.

Besides the athletes, both human and animal, we will be the most seen individuals in the Horse Park. We want our impression on our visitors to be memorable and in good taste. After all, we are representing our community, state, and country. It should be a welcoming and gracious impression.

This should be a wonderful experience for all of us.
